[Description]
Takuro Okada's latest album, Betsu No Jilkan, featuring a lineup of exceptional musicians, has been released on vinyl!
This album, coming approximately two years after the critically acclaimed Morning Sun, which boldly challenged the possibilities of "pop songs" in the modern era, can be considered a culmination of his endeavors amidst the backdrop of the pandemic.
The album was created through improvisational sessions with drummer Shun Ishiwaka, and edit of them. Additionally, it features edited and collaged remote recordings by a stellar lineup of musicians from Japan and abroad, including Jim O'Rourke, Nels Cline (Wilco), Sam Gendel, Carlos Nino, and Haruomi Hosono. Mixing his performances with those of the others, Okada creates a unique blend of ambient jazz, free improvisation, electronic soundscapes, sound collages, and pop elements. This offering from Okada, who stands as one of the foremost pop experimentalists of our time, quietly presents a collection of six tracks.
Be sure not to miss the cover of John Coltrane's A Love Supreme, featuring Shun Ishiwaka and Sam Gendel, a standout track on the album.
