[Description]
11 Roses, presented by Mike Maki and Ren Takada, is an exquisite collection of 11 songs that show the world of rich tone and warm Real Vintage Sound.
This year marks the 40th anniversary of singer Mike Maki's career. His hit song “Bara ga Saita” from 1966 is now included in the music textbooks of elementary and junior high schools and even serves as the school song of St. Petersburg School No. 83 (known as the “Rose School”) in Russia.
This album is a collection of songs with the theme of “roses”, including a new recording of “Bara ga Saita”, from his extensive repertoire of folk, country, bluegrass, Hawaiian music, and more.
The collaboration between Mike Maki and Ren Takada, the son of folk legend Wataru Takada, is a dream pairing that can suggest the possibilities of a new acoustic sound. With just two ukuleles, the newly recorded “Bara ga Saita 2006” kicks off this album, showcasing a stoic yet modern acoustic sound that beautifully blends “singing heart” and “playful spirit”.
