[Description]
Supporting the music powerhouse of the Middle East, Israel is a blues-Americana guitarist, Uzi Ramirez, who, alongside American dancer/singer Bobby Jane, crafts an acid-folk album with just their voices, guitars, and a rose piano. This album evokes the dense anachronistic sonic space reminiscent of the 1960s Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood or Brigitte Fontaine & Areski.
Coming from the Mediterranean surf-rock band Boom Pam and the Americana trio Ramirez Brothers, Israeli guitarist Uzi Ramirez has released two solo albums, Rick My Heart and Cheese in My Pocket. He's also joined the new band The Big Vicious by Avishai Cohen (as tp.), whose visit to Japan this fall (2015) was rumored.
Released in December 2014 in Israel, this album is a duo effort with American dancer and active performer in Israel, Bobby Jane. Produced by Bobby and Uzi themselves, the recording and mixing were handled by Uri Brauner Kinrot, leader of Boom Pam.
The private, intimate 12 songs, with Uzi's guitar-led storytelling and Bobby's whispering vocals, were recorded in just one day. It was unexpected that nuancy the sounds that echo Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazlewood, Brigitte Fontaine & Areski, and Gainsbourg & Birkin, arrive from the white city of Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean coast!
In 1968, when people spoke of the hot West Coast, they meant California. In 2015, when they speak of the hot West Coast, they mean Tel Aviv!
