[Description]
DJ Yogurt & Moja remix Quarter To Africa, a crossover band of Arab and African music from Israel, into a hypnotic afro-disco house remix!
The B-side features a strong cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Child".
The Israeli multicultural music group Quarter To Africa is scheduled to perform at Peter Barakan's "LIVE MAGIC! 2017" music festival on October 22 (Sunday). The Afro-Arab (a term coined by the group themselves) band's first analog release features an ensemble of saxophone, trumpet, percussion, guitar, bass, drums, synths, and vocals, all centered around the oud, a traditional Arabic instrument!
The A side is a new remix of "Drop Your Fears" from their debut album THE LAYBACK released in July. The track, "Drop Your Fears", from their debut album The Layback released in July, has been transformed into a jungle afro-disco house bomb with pleasant floating synths and dubious hypnotic SEs! The result is not to be missed if you like bariarics.
The coupling track is "Voodoo Child (Hendrix AfRab Cover)," an Afro-Arab cover of a Jimi Hendrix classic from the same album. The song is a great cover song that seems authentic at first listen but is a perfect example of the appeal of their sound, which is not restricted to any nationality or genre.
