The long-awaited special edition is set to be released, featuring the 1973 live recordings from Tokyo's "OZ" live house in a 3-CD set. This edition includes bonus tracks from the session of the Naked Larrys that were not included at the time, along with over 40 minutes of unreleased Acid Seven material. Additionally, it contains a deluxe hardcover book spanning 100 pages, including an oral history composed of several hours of interviews with individuals associated with "OZ."

OZ DAYS LIVE was initially released as a double LP private press in 1973. The album title was stamped in rainbow-colored ink on a brown paper bag serving as the cover. It was a self-produced album commemorating the closing of the legendary live house "OZ" in Kichijoji, a town on the outskirts of Tokyo.

"OZ," situated in a small second-floor space near Kichijoji Station, operated as a cafe and performance space from June 1972 to September 1973. Although its existence was brief, just over a year, this DIY-operated venue became a nerve center where underground and counter-culture intersected in the rapidly growing city. The original LP of OZ DAYS LIVE, now a rare collector's item, features recordings from five artists performed at "OZ" across its four sides.

Now, 50 years after the opening of "OZ," the OZ DAYS LIVE '72-'73 Kichijoji The 50th Anniversary Collection reconstructs the original album as a new 3-CD set. This release includes all the tracks from this year's Les Rallizes Dénudés’s album, The OZTapes (DRFT03), and the two songs from the limited edition 12" release Les Rallizes Dénudés (DRFT04) as bonus tracks. 

The recordings from Masato Minami and Tsureochi have been newly remastered from the original LP, and over 40 minutes of previously unreleased Acid Seven material, which had been sleeping in manager Minoru Tezuka's warehouse for almost half a century, is now unveiled. The 100-page oral history, compiled from several hours of interviews, allows listeners to hear firsthand accounts from individuals involved in the "OZ" scene.

At the time of the original release of OZ DAYS LIVE, Tezuka stated in the magazine "Shinpu Journal", "Records are like spiritual nutrients, showing us various situations and scenarios, each offering a different listening experience." He further remarked, "And I believe it is purely about <music> and cannot be anything else."


Deciphering his existential reflection might not be easy, but one thing is clear. Music transcends time. And records like OZ DAYS LIVE allow us to participate in experiences that would otherwise have been lost to time.
