ROTH BART BARON's latest release is the original soundtrack for the film My Small Land, which was honored with the Special Award at the Berlin International Film Festival's "Amnesty International Film Prize."

Following their activities as the unit A_o (A-oh), born from a Pocari Sweat commercial, and their 6th album released last December titled Mugen no HAKU, ROTH BART BARON, the talk of the town, takes on their first film music project. The film, directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda and produced by the visual creator group "Bunfuku," marks the commercial film debut of the talented young director Keima Kawawada. 

My Small Land (released on May 6, 2022) tells the story of a Kurdish girl in Japan who struggles with finding her "place" after losing her residency status, depicting her growth. This film gained attention as an official invitation to the Generation section of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival in February 2022, and it was the first Japanese film to receive the Special Award at the "Amnesty International Film Prize."

Responding eagerly to Director Kawawada's enthusiastic offer to create the score, ROTH BART BARON went on to record music that fully showcases their potential as a musical group, much like their original albums. The result is a music piece that embodies the characteristic ROTH BART BARON sound, beautifully complementing the film's exquisite visuals and delicate emotions. 
In addition to the film score, the soundtrack includes the theme song "New Morning," written specifically for the movie. This music piece, eagerly awaited by their fans and appealing to listeners of soundtracks and post-classical music alike, has finally been completed.
