As key figures in the US indie scene, having supported acts like Beach Fossils and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Always You presents a 7-inch release featuring "All I Wanted Was You," produced by Jerry Paper (Lucas Nathan) known for his work on Stones Throw Records. They also bring forth the refreshing neo-acoustic sound of "Rio de Janeiro" featuring Cony Plankton from TAWINGS on vocals.

This release showcases a premium indie-soul sound that evokes influences from 80s Sophisti Pop and Blue Eyed Soul, reminiscent of bands like Prefab Sprout and The Blue Nile, along with elements of Japan's AOR/City Pop scene. The engineering is handled by Kenny Gilmore, known for his work on projects by Ariel Pink, Julia Holter, and Weyes Blood. Mastering is done by Josh Bonati, renowned for his work with artists such as Mac DeMarco, Wild Nothing, and Slowdive.
