Originally released on a 10-inch analog record in 1981, Rhythm Romance has been remastered by Makoto Kubota from the original master open tapes. This album showcases a range of tracks, including "Boogie Flū" a Southern blues-rock piece written for Kiyoshiro Imawano, the rock 'n' roll number "Tsukiyo ni Arukeba", the New Orleans second line-inspired instrumental "Rhythm Romance", "Nopperabo" and "I'm Gonna Get You Yet," a song by Earl King Johnson featuring Sandy on vocals, among others. The distinctive Hawaiian-style guitar on "Yes Tonight" adds to the eclectic mix, offering a glimpse into the band's diverse musical roots.

Formed in 1972 around Makoto Kubota, the band released notable albums such as Machibouke (1973) and Sunset Gang (1974), effectively marking their debut despite being under Kubota's solo name. They continued to produce outstanding works, incorporating Okinawan and Hawaiian music early on with Hawaii Champloo (1975), before eventually renaming themselves “Sunsets” in 1980 and achieving international recognition. With their distinct blend of influences and earthy sound, they remain one of the most significant bands in Japanese rock of the 1970s.
